The Story

Eric Marshall

From the streets of San Bernardino, Eric Marshall suited up as #25 Shooting Guard and Captain for the Arroyo Valley Hawks — one of the most competitive programs in the San Andreas League. Averaging 16.7 points per game and ranked in the top 71 in Division 1, Marshall's game was built on relentless scoring ability, court vision, and the leadership of a captain.

He wasn't just a scorer. He was the engine. The player his teammates looked to when the game was on the line. On the hardwood at Arroyo Valley High School, Eric Marshall became the kind of player that coaches and communities remember long after the final buzzer.

After graduating in 2010, Marshall carried his game to College of the Desert — the Roadrunners of Palm Desert, California. At the JUCO level, he continued developing his craft against high-level competition, honing the skills that Arroyo Valley built in him and proving that the San Andreas League had produced another elite-level talent.

His story is not just about basketball. It is about representing San Bernardino at every level, from the hardwood at AVHS to the courts of the Coachella Valley. Eric Marshall is a Hawk for life.

Arroyo Valley High School

#25 — The Captain

Eric Marshall wore #25 for the Arroyo Valley Hawks with a captain's mentality from day one. Playing Shooting Guard in the San Andreas League — one of the most competitive leagues in the Inland Empire — he averaged 16.7 points per game and was ranked in the top 71 in Division 1 scoring.

His ability to create his own shot, get to the free throw line, and knock down big buckets made him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. On a team full of talent, Marshall stood out as the player who made everyone around him better.

San Andreas League

Playing Under the Lights

The San Andreas League was no place for the faint of heart. Night after night, Marshall competed against some of the best talent the Inland Empire had to offer — in gyms packed with energy, under pressure that forged real players.

As captain, Marshall understood what those games meant to the program, to the school, and to the community of San Bernardino. He led by example — first in the gym, last to leave, always locked in. His scoring numbers were eye-opening, but his leadership was what made the difference.

Graduating a Hawk

Graduating from Arroyo Valley in 2010, Eric Marshall left behind a legacy that would be talked about in San Bernardino for years to come. His career as a Hawk demonstrated that with talent, discipline, and a captain's heart, players from the 909 could compete with anyone.

Coach Wright's program had built another elite player — and Marshall's path was far from over.

College of the Desert

The Roadrunner — Palm Desert

After Arroyo Valley, Eric Marshall took his game to College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California — home of the Roadrunners. At the junior college level, the competition intensifies. Players are fighting for scholarships, proving themselves to four-year programs, and competing in one of the most talent-rich environments in California community college basketball.

Marshall rose to meet that challenge. The same scoring instincts that made him a standout in the San Andreas League translated to the next level. He continued to develop as a guard, adding layers to his game while keeping the Hawk mentality that San Bernardino instilled in him.

A Hawk Forever — The 909 Raised a Baller

Eric Marshall's story is a testament to what the city of San Bernardino produces. From the hallways of Arroyo Valley High School to the courts of the Coachella Valley, he carried the gold and black with pride every step of the way.

He is part of a lineage of AVHS Hawks — coached under the program built by legends like Coach Gerry "Sir Jam A Lot" Wright — that produced real players, real leaders, and real men. This documentary is his story. The story of a captain who earned every point, every win, and every moment.
