The Story
The Marshalls & The 2010 Season
San Bernardino, California โ the Inland Empire. A city of hard streets, harder workers, and athletes who have to earn everything they get. Arroyo Valley High School sits right in the middle of it all โ a school that opened in 2001, built on the Westside of the city, and quickly became a place where real talent gets forged under real pressure.
In 2010, the Arroyo Valley Hawks boys varsity basketball team embarked on a legendary season. They played in the San Andreas League โ one of the most competitive leagues in the San Bernardino area โ and that year, something magical happened. An 11-game win streak. A brotherhood of ballers. A moment that defined AVHS basketball forever.
At the heart of that season were two Marshall brothers. Stephen Marshall. Jersey #21. Shooting guard and point guard. Six foot one, one hundred sixty pounds. A senior who played every game like it might be his last โ because he understood that in cities like San Bernardino, opportunity doesn't always come twice.
And Eric Marshall. Jersey #25. Shooting Guard and Captain. Sixteen point seven points per game. The engine. The leader. The voice in the huddle when everything was on the line.
Together โ along with teammates who brought different skills, different hunger, different reasons to play โ the Marshall brothers and the Hawks built something the San Bernardino community had never seen before. Not just a winning season. An 11-game win streak that had opposing coaches taking notes and parents bringing their friends to the next game just to witness it.
Coach Gerry Wright โ the man known throughout San Bernardino as Sir Jam A Lot, the former NBA Draft pick who chose country over career โ orchestrated it all. Under his guidance, the team built something more than a record. They built a culture. A brotherhood. A legacy.
This is the story of AVHS 2010. The Marshalls. The 11-Game Win Streak. The season that changed everything.
